This is the order the film follows, because it is the order the job follows. Most residential visits take between forty five minutes and two and a half hours depending on what is being treated.

We walk the outside before the inside
The whole perimeter, with a torch and a moisture meter: weep holes, slab edge, mulch line, door seals, vents, taps. This is the part most quotes skip and it is where the answer usually is.

Coastal brown behaves nothing like a white footed house ant, and a German cockroach job is not an American cockroach job. Identification comes before anything is applied, every time.

Wes was a carpenter for eleven years before he held a pest licence. He kept opening up northside houses and finding the same thing behind the cabinets. A weep hole rendered over. A slab edge that had never been sealed. A door frame packed with foam that had gone brittle in the sun.
The pest bloke would arrive, spray the skirting boards, be gone in fifteen minutes and never once walk the outside of the house. So Fenceline does that first. Every job starts with a full perimeter walk, inside and out, before a price is written, and whatever we find that lets pests in gets closed on the same visit.
What a perimeter walk is
Six places, first.
Nothing on this list is exotic. It is the same six places on nearly every slab on ground house on the northside, and between them they explain most of what turns up inside.
- Weep holes Open, or rendered over during a renovation. A blocked weep hole is a wet wall and a way in.
- Slab edge The join has to be visible. If landscaping has buried it, we say so and price the fix.
- Mulch line Garden beds banked above the slab bridge the treated zone and hold water against the footing.
- Door seals Laundry and garage doors. A brittle seal is the cheapest gap on the property to close.
- Vents and eaves Torn subfloor vents and open eave gaps are how rodents get in and stay in.
- Roof void Rub marks, droppings and mud leads on the truss timbers, checked before anything is applied.

Ranges, not teasers. The bottom of each range is a single storey house on a slab that we can walk all the way around. The top is a second storey, a tight side boundary or more than one nest. You get the fixed number in writing after the walk, before anything starts.
